Flat Spots

When Kalli was about 6 months old we noticed that she was developing a flat spot, i really don't believe that cranial orthotics was unnecessary of that it really helped as much as it was praised to. My Dr didn't think so either, she just suggested that we keep her off her heat as much as we can, basically  anytime that she was not sleeping, we did this and while she still has a flat spot its not really that noticeable now that she is getting hair.

Today i noticed that Luke is getting one too!!! OH NO! Little Luke has a pretty big head, and he's not going to have hair like Kalli so i am extra worried about this. I guess its time to start totally tummy-ing him too.

Twins @ 9 wks adjusted 17 wks actual

This week my babies are really starting to "wake up", so i have decided to start documenting their progress weekly. For Kalli i has a baby book that i did this is but i couldn't find a week by week one for the twins and frankly i love the idea of YT updates but i just don't have time usually to get myself done up enough to really feel comfortable in front of a camera, however i think once i get my tax return if i end up buying a new camera i may start vlogging as well  and i will ink it on here as well as it will be on my youtube channel.

This week my babies are 17 Weeks Actual , 9 Weeks Adjusted

*if you are unaware, prems are developmentally monitored and tracked by an adjusted age, their development is compared to their due date rather than their actual birth date`*

Luke
My little Luke has been rolling over for well over a month now, he is very strong when holding himself up as well and he has been holding himself up since i brought him home and began tummy time. This week he has started sleeping at night for up to 9 hrs!!! this is insane i am soo happy about this! He has also really started to "play" he bats and grabs the toys on his play gym mat.He looks when he hears distinctive noises or i walk in the room. He has started to smirk a little but he still is not very social. He is perfectly content with being left alone to play and that works great for us. He also makes  this noise when he sleeps almost like a high pitched snore, most prems are noisy sleepers but he just hasn't grown out of it ! He was a big soother baby and he just learned to suck his thumb, so he has been knocking out the paci and putting the thumb in at night lately. He is crowing like crazy he weighs 11 lbs and 2 oz this week.

Emma
Emma is a social butterfly, she smiles and coos all the time, she has defiantly found her voice. She is starting to bat at her toys now, she is not a big fan on tummy time but shes starting to get used to it and try to push herself up.  She has been colicky for about 10 weeks, i give her gripe water and she gets lots of cuddling. Emma doesn't sleep quite as well last night was our second night of sleep so fingers crossed it continues. She weights 9 lbs 14 oz this week

Sleeping Through The Night

It is official! My twins are Sleeping through the night! I really feel for those moms out there who have babies who don't sleep a lot, i couldn't imagine having to go much longer waking up and never getting more than 3-4 hrs of sleep.

They were eatiing 4-5 oz every four hours, i increased to 6 oz, and an extra 3 right before bed (they ear at 10 pm and again at 12 am usually). Also as much as i wanted them to co-sleep for a long time they were waking each other up, so i went out and bought a new playpen for Emma, and theser things are working so great for us now, im very pleased with the results.

I take the twins and put them in their bed around midnight when i go to bed and they sleep until about 8:30 am, Kalli usually wakes up around this time as well  I am so overjoyed that i have been getting so much sleep! Hopefully i will be able to blog a little bit more now that i am less tired!

This is where they sleep now, still in our bedroom.
Luke Sleeping, I didn't get any of Emma yet.

House Husband?

This is my topic today, can i husband really stay home? This is a question that i have been worrying about a lot lately. We as a family have recently decided that Jordan would take a child care leave from work so that he can help me with taking care of the children, this decision was not really thought out he kind of decided on his own that this is what he wanted to do and we would just have to deal with it, he will be off work until just before the twins turn 1. In that time i have decided that i might go to school, i have been looking into some courses, and im very weary to doing school online. I am very worried that if i go and spend money that we are scraping together and borrowing i will take a course that is not is accredited or is not recognized. I don't have much time to get this done while he's on leave.

The course i have been looking at is teacher for persons with autism. I would be working with children who have autism basically, at the same time i also want to learn ASL. But this is not what this post is about, if and when i make a solid decision i will definitely be writing about it, but this post is how do i "train" dad to be mom? Is it even possible?

What if he forgets to feed them, or change them, what if he just doesn't teach them anything? Will he cook and clean will i have to go to school and then come home to a big mess and children screaming everyday?

I never planned on being a SAHM but it just happened that way and now that the thought of me leaving them is being brought up i am terrified to leave him in charge.

Three babies take a lot, there is a lot of screaming and crying and laughing and eating and playing. And sometime you just need to ignore the screams for a sec while you take a bottle , i just don't know if he can handle it, at least i will have month to whip him into shape... i really hope its possible!

What's Cooking? Steak & Loaded Potato Casserole

Im going to start a "whats cooking" segment to my blog, when i make a nice dinner i will post it. The recipe and directions ect. I also have made a page called "Recipes" where i will be posting the recipe to my more "interesting" dishes, if anyone has an idea or suggestion for me to make or try or post i will do so, i was a baker before i left work so i am a decent cook aswell and can whip up pretty much anything!

So tonight's menu is: Steak & Loaded Potato Casserole

Ingredients :

Steak - I used two eye of round cuts i think they were about 6-8oz

Marinade

  •   Bullseye Sweet&Sticky (1/2 cup)
  •   Bullseye Roasted Garlic&Onion (1/2 Cup)
  •   Frank's Red Hot (just a few shakes)
  •   PC Sweet Chilly Thai Sauce (1/4 cup)
  •   Salt, Pepper and Garlic Salt (Few shakes of each)

Loaded Potato Casserole

  • 12 small/meduim potatoes
  • 1 250ml container sour cream
  • 2 big spoonfuls of margerine
  • 2 green onions
  • 250g of shredded old chedder
  • 9 half strips of bacon
  • Garlic Salt

The night before i took the steaks out of the package and hit them with my fist to tenderize. I then mixed all of my ingredients for the marinade into a large zipper seal bag. I added the steaks made sure to cover both steaks with marinade and refrigerated.

To begin, I cleaned all my work surfaces with lysol wipes and let them dry, i washed my hands and gathered all utensils and ingredients i needed.  Preheat oven to 350°C.

Peel the potatos and cut into peices about the size of a large egg, rince in cold water. Fill a medium sized pot with cold water, add potatos to water and boil on max heat for 25 min. or until you can easily poke a fork into them.

Fry up the bacon in a pan, honestly i reallt detest frying bacon in a frying pan, i would rather use a griddle pan but silly me started the dish washer and forgot to take the griddle pan and spatula out to hand wash so i ended up using a frying pan and fork, which i do not advise, since i burnt three of my fingers flipping bacon.

Once the bacon is cooken set on paper towel or bead heal to soak away the grease. Keep pan and bacon grease, it will be used later to make the steak.

Once the potatos have cooked, strain and return them to the pot. Begin preparing green onions;

Cut off white ends and any undesirable ends that are brown of shriveled. Wash onions with water and cut into small peices.

Put  a few large spoonfulls of margerine (real butter would be better), and entire container of sour cream into the potatos. Use a hand masher to mix up and mash the potato mixture.

Use a hand mixer to whip the potatoes to a nice mashed potato consistancy. Add the cut up green onions to potatioes and spoon mix them in.

Add half the potatoes to a casserole dish and pat down.

Sprinkle some garlic salt on the potatoes. ass 1/2 of the shredded cheddar and then add bacon.
Add the rest of the potatos on top, the rest of the cheese and bacon.

Set aside.

Put Steaks in the pan with the bacon grease that you saved. Cook for 4-5 min on each side on med heat
Once you have cooked each side in the frying pan, Place on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with garlic salt and top with about 1 tbsp of margerine. place in oven on middle rack. Place Loaded mashed potato casserole along with it.

Cook for 8-10 minuites, i like my steak well done, and this cooks it that way.
 Take it out and serve.

Kids in the Kitchen!
I almost always have at leaste one kid in the kitchen with me, tonight it was Kalli and Emma.

Does 8hrs of Sleep Really Exist?

*This is an update from a previous post on my old blog (SEE BOTTOM OF POST) about Kalli's New Bed*

So Kalli has been out of her crib for 1 month and she is doing awesome! She is teething so she hasn't been sleeping very good, but at least its not a screaming match to get her into bed at night, when she was in her crib every night was "cry-it-out" night. sleep training was definitely a bust with her but now that she isn't confined to her crib she sleeps like a baby... lol... where is no fights getting her into bed! She usually stays in bed, but sometimes she gets  up and cries at the gate or goes and plays for a bit, then i put her back with her bottle and she goes right  to sleep. The last week or so though has been a little bit worse, she goes to bed between 7-8 and she has been waking up around 11 or 12 and wanting to be held and rocked for at least 20 minutes before she Will even consider going back to sleep. This is really becoming a problem, the babies are just starting to give me a little bit of sleepability, and now Kalli, my big girl, is waking me up!! I really hope this is just teething and soon as those two molars come through she will go back to sleep!

As for the twins well there sleep has been pretty F***** up as well, and i know i shouldn't do it  but i am letting them sleep in the infant to toddler rocker chairs, its the only way i can get to sleep at all. When i put them in their bed they move around and the wake up and the hit each other and wake up each other. I don't think this is a they need their own bed issue really but more of a wide open space issue. They seem to like the cuddled-upness of the chairs. I need the sleep i get when they sleep there, they went from sleeping 2-4 hrs and waking up at least 3 times every night to 1 wake up, around 3am. I know i cant do this forever, but for now it is keeping me sane!

We Put Emma in Kalli's Bed... Kalli was NOT happy about it!
***********************************************************************************
**********************PREVIOUSLY POSTED ON OLD BLOG***************************
***********************************************************************************
I know  his may be a slight rush on things but i have decided to put Kalli in a toddler bed, for Christmas she will be getting her new room things. She is 13 months old right now and today i have taken her mattress out of her crib and moved it to the floor for now to see how well she does with it and so far so good she hasn't fallen face first onto the floor.

If our wondering my reasoning behind this i have a couple things, i want her to have an easier time adjusting when i take her crib and give it to he twins, i want her to be out of it for a while and not be attached to it anymore, also she is starting to climb things, not her crib yet but she tries to climb up everything else and she HATES her crib anyways, i think this was the easiest nap so far!

I want to do her room in fairies, we have a few fairy things and Tinkerbell stings in there but i want it to be all out! She like Tinkerbell she has a little figurine that talks to her. and she recognise her in stores and when she sees her out places.

I am going Christmas shopping tomorrow so hopefully is all goes well she sleeps good tonight on her mattress and i will buy her bed tomorrow, if not i will possible wait another month or so.
